...where you can do a lot or a little and still make a difference
Rancho Esperanza is located on the beach. Our beach house, palapas and coconut thatched hammock area provide comfort from the sun while you enjoy the refreshing sea breeze.
Our idyllic beach front backpacker hostel combines low-impact, natural living with projects that actively benefit the village.

Whether you are looking to escape, contemplate and create, learn to surf, or just unwind for a few days Rancho Esperanza lets you appreciate authentic Nicaraguan life at a beautiful beach setting of Jiquilillo while you can be confident that your presence is doing good not harm.
If you want a new perspective, our volunteer opportunities and homestay give you a chance to get involved in community outreach and the development of the project. For the more adventurous, we and the community offer surf boards, kayaking, volcano hikes, horse back riding and many cultural excursions.
Along with surf rentals and surf lessons our Surf Camp, run by local surfer Mauricio, provides ding and broken board repair. He and the other 12 local kids within Surf Club can provide their knowledge of local beach breaks, including the nearby shore and point breaks of El Asserradores.
